   Anastasia Vatopoulou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece and graduated from medical school of Aristotle University. She has a PhD degree and the subject of her thesis was HPV vaccination and sexuality of adolescent and young women. She started her career providing primary care in the Greek NHS in remote areas of Northern Greece. Her training started with obtaining general surgical experience for two years in a busy teaching hospital. She held a residency training post in Gynecology working for two years in a Gynecologic Oncology referral center in her hometown and then moved to UK where, for the next four years she widened her knowledge and improved her skills by working as an ObGyn in several hospitals around London. After passing the Greek board examinations she was accredited a specialist Obstetrician Gynaecologist in 2004.Until now she is fully registered with GMC with regular appraisals and revalidations to keep up with current practice in UK.

 

    Anastasia has an extensive experience in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (PAG) having worked in this field for over 10 years. She was trained in PAG in Athens by Prof. G. Creatsas and was appointed as an IFEPAG fellow on 2013 in Hong Kong. She did an observership as a honorary consultant for two years in UCLH with Prof. Sarah Creighton and for a month in Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne ,referral center for Australia and New Zealand  to widen her knowledge on surgery of congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract.

 

From 2011 to 2016 , as an Academic Fellow in the 1st Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Aristotles University Medical School  at “Papageorgiou” general hospital, Anastasia established a clinic for gynecological care of children and adolescents that followed  international management protocols and “state of the art” services . She has been seminal in establishing PAG as a subspecialty in Northern Greece and has trained several doctors that succeeded her work. As an Academic Fellow she participated in academic and clinical activities of the department and  lectured on residents and medical students on several PAG related subjects.

 

   Anastasia is a member of the executive board of European Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (EURAPAG) and  an international representative in the program committee of the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG) annual congress.She has participated and organized  international meetings, congresses and workshops as a trainer in PAG . She has several publications in greek and foreign databases.  She was the president of the organizing committee in 4 Greek Congresses on PAG. She is secretary general of the Greek PAG Society and member of several international societies with interests related to PAG. 

Anastasia is currently providing all the range of ObsGyn services with a special interest in pediatric and adolescent gynecology  in Thessaloniki.She has organized an internet site on PAG ( https://www.facebook.com/pagthessaloniki/) to push forward the borders of good care in PAG.
